In case you missed it in the news last week, we are recapping the Executive Order that was just signed by Governor Janet Mills to provide immediate action to combat the Opioid Epidemic in Maine.
The Order includes four objectives:
- Increase access and training for the drug Naloxone which reverses an opioid overdose
- Prevent Substance Use Disorder by providing education to school-age children and training for healthcare professionals
- Expand availability of treatment programs like Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
- Strengthen recovery by funding recovery coaches in emergency rooms and increase the amount of ERs that offer induction of suboxone
